How to Improve Your CIBIL Score: A Practical Guide

A good CIBIL score is often the difference between a loan getting approved quickly and it getting stuck in additional scrutiny. Here is what actually moves the needle.

Pay on Time, Every Time

Payment history is the single biggest factor in your score. Even one missed EMI can pull your score down noticeably, and it stays on your report for years.

Keep Credit Utilisation Low

Try to use less than 30% of your available credit card limit. Maxing out cards, even if you pay them off monthly, can hurt your score.

Check Your Report Regularly

Errors are more common than most people expect. Loans marked as settled or written off when they were actually closed in full, overdue flags on accounts that were paid on time, and other people's loans reflecting in your report are all issues HATS resolves regularly for clients.

Do Not Apply for Too Much Credit at Once

Every hard enquiry has a small negative impact. Space out loan and credit card applications where you can.

If you suspect your score is being unfairly dragged down by a reporting error rather than your actual repayment behaviour, a proper CIBIL report review is the fastest way to find out.
